Lawrence Technological University

 

Lawrence Technological University (LTU) offers over 60 undergraduate, master and doctoral degrees in architecture and design, arts and sciences, engineering and management. A pioneer in offering day and evening classes in 1932, LTU now offers weekend programs as well. With an 11:1 student to faculty ratio, the university strives to develop leaders through innovative and agile programs that embrace theory and practice. Michigan’s first completely wireless laptop campus, Lawrence Tech links university resources to meet applied research and commercialization needs.

Lawrence Tech’s emphasis on technology partnerships combines sponsored research and programs with commercialization and technology transfer.

Key initiatives of Lawrence Tech include:

  • Commercializing and marketing existing university technology for the benefit of local industries and communities
  • Facilitating the ease of technology and IP transfer between university researchers and industry
  • Providing contract research services for industry, with an emphasis on applied research
  • Leveraging the university's applied technology resources to help support economic development in southeast Michigan
  • Helping to obtain unique research resources

Lawrence Technological University is developing an emerging energies curriculum. The university has partnered in numerous joint ventures, including the recently completed, first-of-its-kind, carbon fiber bridge to be constructed in the U.S., as well as DTE Energy’s new hydrogen technology park.
